In late September the Caller-Times staff including myself, reporter Beatriz Alvarado and photographers Courtney Sacco and Rachel Clow began documenting the stories of Deferred Action recipients who live in South Texas.
On Sept. 5, President Donald Trump rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals — an immigration program designed during the Obama administration to protect undocumented immigrants who were brought into the United States as children.
Trump left it to Congress to preserve the program through legislation within six months.
We’ll follow their struggles and success after the decision and hope to educate our community on the program and clarify misconceptions.
